Roy Jones Jr. vs Felix Trinidad

By Scott Burgess
First Punch: 9:00 PM ET--HBO PPV

Two great fighters go head to head on Sat, Jan 19, at Madison Square Gardens when Roy Jones Jr. takes on Felix Trinidad in a battle of the 170 pounders.

Roy Jones Jr.(-335) last fight was against Anthony Hanshaw way back on July 14, 2007. Jones Jr. won an unanimous 12 rnd decision over Tyger Hanshaw. He was a little rusty in the early rounds but by the 11th rnd Jones Jr. had it in the bag. He dropped Hanshaw with two lead right hands.

Felix Trinidad's(+265) last fight was against Ronald "Winky" Wright on May 14, 2005. Winky won a 12 rnd unanimous decision after completely dominating Trinidad from opening bell to the end of the 12th rnd. This fight looked like it was time for Trinidad to hang up the gloves.

Head 2 Head: Both fighters are weighing in at 170lbs, which benefits Jones Jr. because he only needs to lose 5lbs while Trinidad has to come up in weight. Both fighters have suspect chins, so it could be anybodies fight, but Trinidad has been away from the sport a little too long. Jones Jr. is a mover and shaker with great speed and power.

Bottom Line: It's going to be a great battle, but look for Roy Jones Jr. to get a late round TKO.
