Seahawks vs Packers

By Scott Burgess
Kickoff: Sat, Jan 12, 2008 4:30 PM ET

The Green Bay Packers(-8) host the Seattle Seahawks(+8), at Lambeau Field, for a chance at playing in the NFC Championship Final. The last time Seattle played, at Lambeau Field, the Packers won 48-13.

The Green Bay Packers(13-3) will be utilizing their 2nd ranked PASS offense against the Seahawks 19th ranked PASS defense. QB Bret Favre completed 9 of 11 for 99 YDS with 2 TD before being pulled early against the Detroit Lions. The Packers aren't really known for their running game, but it has done well lately, and they might be able to RUSH against the Seahawks 12th ranked RUSH defense. Seattle defended very well against the Washington Redskins, so it will be wiser to put it up in the air. Just how Favre likes it. The Packers love playing at home where they're 7-1 and Bret Favre excels in the cold.

The
Seattle Seahawks(10-6) got a win last week over the Washington Redskins, 35-14 at home. The Seahawks showed no sign of a RUSH game what so ever. RB Shuan Alexander had 46 YDS on the day, his longest was 13 YDS. QB Matt Hasselbeck was 20/32 for 229 YDS with 1 TD and 2 INT. It wasn't that the Seahawks were great, it was the Redskins were AWFUL. Seattle's chances lie in the hands of QB Matt Hasselbeck and his receivers. They were 3-5 on the road this year.
Bottom Line: Bret Favre is playing like the superstar he is and he loves home field advantage. If his offensive line can hold off Seattle's defense to give him time to throw, it's not looking too good for the Seahawks. Matt Hasselbeck will need to use TE Marcus Pollard.
